Design/Build

What is Design/Build Early Engagement?

Proactive involvement of key stakeholders, such as steel fabricators, during the initial phases of a construction project.

Instead of reaching out to the fabricator after the design phase is complete, contractors collaborate with them from the outset, integrating their expertise during the design, planning and feasibility assessment stages.

When Does Early Engagement Work Best?
Design-Build Firms:

Prioritize collaboration from project inception to completion, ensuring integrated, efficient designs and execution.

Large-Scale Infrastructure Projects:

Complex undertakings that require precision, scalability, and tailored solutions from the outset.

Innovative Architecture Firms:

Pushing design boundaries often necessitates early consultation to realize creative visions practically within a feasible steel structure.

Companies Expanding into New Regions:

Firms venturing into unfamiliar terrains or regulatory environments benefit from early fabricator insights.

How It Works
1. Direct Engagement

Engage Allfasteners through a retainer for preliminary design. This begins collaboration with out engineers with a focus on steel fabrication feasibility, installation efficiencies, and fastener design and connections optimization.

3. Faster Project Initiation

After Budget analysis, issue an LOI to expedite project kickoff. Detailing work and field verifications can proceed based on mutual understanding, even before finalizing the full terms.

2. Budget Analysis

During the preliminary Design stage, budget analysis can be conducted and pricing for fabrication finalized as the details are confirmed by each party.

4. Contract Execution

The early engagement ends by issuing a contract purchase order for the material and fabrication, with the project thoroughly analyzed and de-risked in advance. All stages to this point are handled by an Allfasteners staff engineer.

Key Benefits
Enhanced Collaboration

Shared understanding and alignment between fabricator and installer for smooth execution.

Cost Savings

Identify and address potential issues early, preventing costly change orders later.

Optimized Designs

Utilize fabricator insights for better material and technique choices, aligning project goals with fabrication capabilities.

Risk Management

Proactive risk identification and strategies, combining responsibilities for design, engineering and fabrication of connections and key components.

Streamlined Procurement

Efficient sourcing of materials and resources to reduce lead times.
