When your job requires steel fabricated parts and fasteners, you’ll need a steel fabricator that has comprehensive steel detailing capabilities. Whether dimensionally incorrect, or missing key details, poor shop drawing quality costs projects time and money.
What is Steel Detailing
Let’s start with the basics. Steel detailing is the process we use to model your parts in our 3D software, and then use our model to produce 2D shop drawings that are suitable for fabrication
Steel detailers have two duties: create drawings that the fabricator can then use to measure, cut and weld any necessary parts and to confirm critical information such as material grade, finish, hardware sizes and quantities, and inspection requirements.
In short, the steel detailer uses a set of construction drawings and customer supplied information to create detailed “instructions” for both the fabricator and installer – that are as easy to understand as possible, while adhering to the applicable guidelines such as the AISC steel detailing standard.
