Why Raptor Radome?

Allfasteners developed the Raptor Radome system as a long-needed replacement for existing concealment panels on monopoles. While the idea of concealing radios and antennas on a pole is a practical one, the routine maintenance required for installing and removing loose bolts, straps, and buckles, not to mention handling panels at elevated heights, can turn into quite a cumbersome task. Hardware is also easily damaged or goes missing. Many traditional panels have nylon bolts on the vertical seam and they are often left out, broken, or lost, which leaves the panel unprotected from the environment. The Raptor Radome was invented to combat these problems.

The Raptor Radome can be used on new and old structures alike. Allfasteners can also retrofit to existing towers. The radome utilizes a latch system designed for easy access and there is no loose hardware to be lost or damaged in the field. The Raptor Radome is cost-saving and decreases remobilization, adding longevity to your structure.

Testing and Evolution

Most "repairs" carried out on-site involve securing hurricane straps around the canister for added protection. What's noteworthy is that all of the Raptor Radome's testing was conducted without relying on these components, eliminating the requirement to acquire similar kits. Just for the materials alone, these kits typically come at a price of $150 per section. Furthermore, you also regain the time that would have otherwise been spent cutting, unwinding, and re-wrapping the canister.

Allfasteners continues to evolve the design of the Raptor Radome for customers' needs. Recently, we added more ventilation to make sure that antennas do not overheat. This is especially useful in warmer climates. The structure can overheat due to solar radiation and the integrated 5G radios. As a result, venting is an option to request on your Raptor Radome unit. With this new design, the temperature inside the canister is equal to the ambient temperature.

Allfasteners has not only created a solution for managing the heat of these canisters, but we have also created a solution to cool the top of monopoles as well. We use a vortex system that pulls air through the openings at the baseplate and through the portholes. Directional fins allow the air to rotate throughout the tower. Every 30 seconds, the system can change the volume of air inside the canister on a standard 120-foot monopole that is 36 inches in diameter.

Raptor Radome Benefits

The Raptor Radome is manufactured in the United States using materials that are not only radio-frequency friendly but also provide a distinct set of features and advantages:

  1. Allows for 360-degree simultaneous access just by opening the doors.
  2. Safe and easy access from a manlift without additional equipment.
  3. Tested to be used with the doors open in wind speeds up to 30mph and speeds of 150mph with doors closed.
  4. Ventilation options to prevent antennas from overheating.
  5. Best yet, the system is designed to work with existing bulkheads and structural spines on existing poles, so that it can be retrofitted to almost any monopole in the field.
  6. Satisfies any carrier requirements for closing up a pole after the day’s work.
  7. UV stabilized for protection against degradation from UV light.
  8. The material used to craft the radome isn't prone to expanding, contracting, or becoming brittle.
