Aluminum self drilling screws are one-third the weight of steel screws and are used for wet or nonmagnetic applications including hospital MRI and operating rooms. They are used for attaching aluminum to aluminum. Since aluminum is softer than steel, these screws should not be used to attaching to steel or stainless steel.
